Arturo Cuéllar-Nathan

Arturo Cuéllar‘s compositions are marked with energy, virtuosity and humour in a unique style that combines classical and jazz elements with Colombian folk music. His compositions, including a piano concerto, three string quartets two fantasias for piano and string orchestra and others have been performed throughout the world, from the Musikverein in Vienna to the Carnegie Hall in New York. Born in Colombia in 1960 Cuéllar started playing the violin at the age of four with the family jazz band. He went to London to study composition with Melanie Daiken at Morley College and then moved to Switzerland to study with Irma Schaichet, herself a distinguished pupil of Bela Bartok. In 1986 he married the painter Corinne Nathan in Zürich where they live together with their three children.
